I attended Brunel University graduating in 1977 with a degree in Polymer Science. In 1979 I joined the research and development department of British Cellophane Limited. 1981 saw my move into technical support where I learned my trade in film and process development.
In 1989 I joined Alport Plastics as Quality Manager; my responsibility was writing the procedures to obtain the BS 5750 certification, achieving it in February 1991. I became Works Manager in the early 90’s before progressing to Operations Director when Macfarlane Group acquired Alport Plastics.
I then took up a floating technical director role assisting various parts of the group before returning to Brighouse in 2004 when I started putting together the procedures to obtain the BRC/IoP hygiene standard which we achieved in July 2005.
