I attended Brunel University to obtain a degree in Polymer Science, graduating in 1977. I joined the research and development department of British Cellophane Limited in 1979. 1981 saw my move into technical support where I learned my trade in film and process development.
In 1989 I joined Alport Plastics as Quality Manager; my responsibility was writing the procedures to obtain the BS 5750 certification, achieving it February 1991. Becoming Works Manager in the early 1990’s before progressing to Operations Director when Macfarlane Group acquired Alport Plastics.
I then took up a floating technical director role assisting various parts of the group before returning to Brighouse in 2004 when I started putting together the procedures to obtain the BRC/IoP hygiene standard which we achieved in July 2005.
